Adopt-A-Room in Pine Dorm
Pine Dorm, aka "Girl's Dorm", is getting a facelift!
Use the below form to indicate interest in contributing to the remodeling of common spaces and accessibility upgrades, on behalf of yourself, your church, or business.
We began adoptions with the 10 Bedrooms in Pine and assigned them on a first-come, first-served basis. We’ve seen great success in this project so far, both in generating donations and completing remodeling projects. At this time ALL bunk rooms are adopted!
Once we’ve completed the rooms, we plan to move on to the meeting room, director’s room, 5 communal bathrooms (including a dedicated accessible bathroom conversion out of an existing storage closet), and new front doors with an automatic opener for accessibility.
During our February 2020 volunteer weekend we completed roughly 60% of the cosmetic updates we are making in all rooms, including:
- Prime, patch, and paint wood paneling
- Install sheet-metal accent on lower portion of wall with rough-cut lumber trim
- Replace broken and stained ceiling tiles
- Install custom-cut room darkening pull-down window shades
- Paint bunk beds in cabinetry-rated enamel
- Sand, patch, and paint inside of room doors in chalkboard finish
Future updates that we will contract out for all rooms will include:
- Updated electrical throughout the building for energy efficiency with motion-sensor lighting
- New flooring
We have been awarded grant funding to complete the proposed ADA bathroom conversions!
All bunk rooms are adopted! We are still accepting donations for common spaces and bathrooms.
